scentless

C2
adjective

Pronunciation

UK

  • /sˈɛntləs/

US

  • /sˈɛntləs/

Description

Something that is scentless has no noticeable smell. Some flowers look beautiful but have little or no odor, and some products are made this way on purpose. A soap, lotion, or cleaner may be described as scentless when no fragrance has been added. A room can also seem scentless if there is no clear smell in the air.

Think of walking into a clean room and noticing nothing with your nose at all. That quiet absence of smell is the idea behind scentless. The opposite of scentless is fragrant or smelly.
