noun

Pronunciation

UK

  • /prˈɪntaʊt/

US

  • /ˈprɪnˌtaʊt/

Description

A printout is a paper copy of something that came from a computer or another digital device. It turns digital information into something you can hold, read, mark up, or share. You might need one for a report, a set of instructions, a receipt, a ticket, or a form. In the past, people depended on printouts much more for records and daily work. Now they are often used for drafts, confirmations, or any time a paper copy feels easier to use. A faded one might show old information, while a clean one might be ready for a meeting, a class, or an official file.
